Dr. Threlkel grew up in
Kentucky. He graduated from Vanderbilt University, where he
received his undergraduate degree. He earned his Medical Degree
from Duke University, then completed his residency in pediatrics
at Vanderbilt University Hospital, serving as chief resident in
1969. After two years as a pediatrician in the United States Army,
he joined the practice of Dr. Hugh and Connie Carithers.
Certified by the American Board of
Pediatrics in 1971 and re-certified in 1987, Dr. Threlkel was
active in the development of the Wolfson Children's Hospital. He
has served as the hospital's chief of the medical staff and
currently sits on its board of trustees.
Dr. Threlkel and his wife enjoy worldwide
traveling, visiting their children and grandchildren. He also
loves hiking and fishing.
